Yannis Kalavrianos

Born in Thessaloniki, Greece. Graduate of the Medical School and of the Theatre Studies Department of the Fine Arts School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where he is also a PhD student. He worked as a doctor, as an actor and director. He wrote and directed: Who wants to be agreeable? The Lost Ring Project (Deutsches Theater Berlin), Abelard and Heloise (Athens & Epidaurus Festival), Sons and Daughters; A Play on the Quest of Happiness (“Karolos Koun Award and the Critics’ Theatre and Music Award for Best Greek Play 2013-2014”, “International Prize Il Teatro Nudo, di Teresa Pomodoro, Milan 2014-2015”, Athens & Epidaurus Festival, Spazio Teatro NO’HMA Milan, CSS Teatro Udine, Serajevo Winter Festival, Nicosia, Centro Dramático Nacional Madrid, (Una Mirada al mundo, directed by Juana Casado), David’s Formidable Speech on Europe (Deutsches Theater Berlin, Kunstfestspiele Herrenhausen Hannover), Paraloges or Short Everyday Tragedies (Athens & Epidaurus Festival, Nicosia), Easter (Michael Cacoyannis Foundation, Athens), Praktorisses (Theatro tou Heliou, Athens), I am the Holy Infant! (Neos Kosmos Theatre, Athens). He also directed: Tserline and the hunting pavilion, (an adaptation of Die Erzählung der Magd Zerline, from Die Schuldlosen by Hermann Broch, Kefallinias Theatre, Athens), Medeamaterial by Heiner Müller (Kleio Theatre, Chororoes Theatre, Athens) and Austras or Couch Grass by Lena Kitsopoulou (National Theatre of Greece, Theater tri-bühne Stuttgart, Piccolo Teatro Milan, Heidelberger Stückemarkt).
